No good deed is unaccounted for Team Palau especially with President Tommy Remengesau, Jr.’s pronouncement that Palau’s athletes who brought glory to the country in the recently concluded Micronesian Games held in Yap will be rewarded with cash.

During the sidelines of the press conference on Wednesday, Remengesau told the media that Micro Games athletes who garnered gold medals will receive $100, silver medalists will also receive $75, and $50 awaits Bronze medalists.

According to Remengesau, the reward is sourced from the donations of the people and the government agencies who all wanted to donate an amount for the athletes.

The fund raised totaled $13,000 and this will be given to the athletes during their picnic appreciation on Saturday, August 11.

Palau took pride in the outcome of the Micronesian Games especially that Palau had just topped the medal tally board while not hosting the games after many years since the first Micronesian Games in 1969.

Team Palau had garnered a total of 70 medals, 32 of which are gold, 18 are Silver, and 20 are Bronze. Palau was followed by the Republic of the Marshall Islands who had earned 29 gold medals out of their 52 medals and Guam came in third also with 29 gold medals out of their 53 medals.
