Palau Community College students Ms. Svenja H. Yosinao and Ms. Sydney D. Francisco have been selected to participate in the JENESYS Program in Japan from January 13 to January 20, 2026. The JENESYS Program, funded by the Japanese Government, aims to foster friendship and cultural exchange between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. During their visit, Ms. Yosinao and Ms. Francisco will join other participants in learning about their selected theme.

This year’s program themes include Ocean and Environment and Climate Change and Disaster Prevention. The two students have chosen to participate in the Ocean and Environment group. As part of the program, they will travel to Tokushima and Kagawa Prefectures, where they will have the opportunity to learn more about environmental issues, marine life, and sustainability efforts in Japan.

The Embassy of Japan encourages more Palauan students to take advantage of such programs that provide an opportunity to foster cultural exchange as well as hands-on learning based on specific interests. The short-term invitation programs are also a great opportunity for students to experience Japan and hopefully inspire students to pursue educational opportunities in Japan in the future.
