A road accident claimed a life of a 61-year-old man from Ngatpang, Augusto Osilek, on Monday evening, July 3, 2023, in Ngetkib, Airai.
The accident occurred close to the Bem Ermii wagon at the Airai side of KB Bridge, an area that is prone to car accidents and where a number of people have lost their lives.
There was no official police report as of yesterday evening, but according to witnesses and photos taken by passers-by, the victim was a passenger in the vehicle that hit the embankment near Bem Ermii, and the passenger was thrown out of the vehicle. The victim was said to have died at the scene.
The driver was not seriously injured and was taken into custody.
