Criminal charges of Misconduct in Public Office, violation of Code of Ethics and Theft of Government Property in the First Degree have been filed against Airai State Procurement Officer Vilma Yoshiwo by the Office of Special Prosecutor.
Information from the Office of Special Prosecutor alleged that Ms. Yoshiwo “authorized or directed Airai State employees to use Airai State Government time, equipment, facilities, assets or property” to renovate her family home and perform manual labor at her personal home.
Report was made to the Office of Special Prosecutor and after investigation, OSP found documents that led to filing of criminal charges against Ms. Yoshiwo.
Ms. Yoshiwo is scheduled for her first court appearance on September 2nd.
The complaint contained allegations that defendant committed a crime but defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
