Koror, Palau — Authorities are investigating the robbery and shooting of a Chinese national at the Ngatpang Quarry, following two separate attacks on the victim within a week.

On May 29, 2025, at around 5:30 a.m., two masked men dressed in black reportedly approached the victim, known as Charlie by the locals, not his official name. The suspects allegedly robbed him of $150 and shot him three times with an air gun. Other quarry employees responded, prompting the attackers to flee in a waiting vehicle.

This incident follows a similar attack on May 24, when the same man was reportedly robbed by masked individuals at around 7:30 p.m.  In this incident, he was only robbed, not shot.

Police Director Curtis Elobt said a full investigation is underway, with law enforcement resources dedicated to the case. On May 30, officers detained several possible suspects for questioning at the police station.

The victim was treated at the hospital and released on May 30. He is reportedly assisting police in identifying the suspects.

Authorities confirmed there are seven workers residing at the Ngatpang quarry barracks: two Filipinos, four Bangladeshis, and one Chinese national.

As of press time, the investigation is ongoing.
