KOROR, Palau (Jan. 13, 2025) — The responsibilities of the Registrar of Corporations is now with the Financial Institutions Commission (FIB) after the launch of its online platform on Jan. 20, 2025. The move from the Office of the Attorney General to FIC is mandated under Executive Order No. 477.
The transfer includes oversight of For-Profit and Non-Profit Corporations, Partnerships, Credit Unions, Cooperatives, and Ecclesiastic Corporations Sole. This shift also coincides with the launch of the FIC’s new Online Corporate Registry, which will simplify the registration process for corporations, improving efficiency and accessibility.
Re-Registration Required
All entities currently registered with the Office of the Attorney General must re-register with the FIC within one year of the registry’s launch. Re-registration will be free during this period, and entities that fail to complete the process by the deadline will be administratively dissolved.
While For-Profit and Non-Profit Corporations can register online, other entities will continue to use paper-based processes. FIC staff will provide assistance to ensure a smooth transition, with additional educational outreach planned to guide businesses through the process.
Contact Information Update Requested
The FIC is urging all entities to update their contact information to facilitate the transition. Updates can be sent via email to:
- Registrar of Corporations: registrar@palauregistries.pw
- Corporate Registry Specialist: crspecialist@palauregistries.pw
For more information, businesses are encouraged to contact the FIC or visit their office. The commission is confident the move will modernize corporate registration and improve service delivery.
