July 17, 2017 (Koror, Palau) Ministry of Health continues its monitoring of dengue outbreak and half way into the month of July, 31 cases have been reported.

Report shows that number of states affected is down 4 from 8 states with reported cases in June.  Koror continue to have high number of cases with 28 out of 31 reported cases.  Cases in Koror are spread among almost all hamlets except for Ngerchemai, which so far has no reported case.

Unlike previous months, cases are spread out almost evenly among all hamlets with significant drop in areas that have had most reported cases last month such as Madalaii, Ngermid, Meyuns, and Ngerbeched.  These hamlets are only showing 2 or 3 cases so far.

Continued clean-up efforts and public awareness is having marked impact on reducing the number of dengue cases.

Prevention is key to eliminating dengue cases and Ministry of Health continues to urge people to use insect repellents, clean up areas around homes and communities and remove any potential breeding sites, especially during this rainy season. [/restrict]
