Without practicing “die to self” in our daily walk with the LORD gets us in trouble,… I’ve followed Christ for 32 years and these past few days I recognized that I failed to die to my selfish self and lost the peace that transcends my mind. I was awakened to the fact tha this world is not home – I’m just passing through. You don’t need extra luggage — to weigh you down.
The WORD TEACHES us to be self-aware and in control of our emotions, thoughts, and actions.
We’re also taught the importance of self-examination and not think to too highly of oneself. We are warned against deceiving ourselves with pride. Timothy 4:16 and Romans 12:3 emphasize the importance of self-examination and not thinking too highly of oneself.
Galatians 6:3 warns against deceiving oneself with pride. Dying to self allows Galatians 2:22 to shine through. Love, joy, peace, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, patience, and self-control.
A central focus of Jesus’ teachings and the gospel message is to be reborn as a believer in Christ and a child of God. While the phrase “die to self” is actually not explicitly found in scripture, it is closely related to the idea of being born again and devotion of faith. The closest thing found in the Bible is where Paul writes, “our old self was crucified” (Romans 6:6). Dying to yourself means to forego the selfish, physical, and egotistical desires of this world and wholeheartedly seek the kingdom of God.
It took a while to recognize my need to die to self. O LORD GOD help me to grow more in Christ.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
May these “die to self” Bible verses inspired our walk of faith and devotion to Christ. Let us transcend our fleshly desires, my need to be part of, as best we can, and turn our sights to heaven…it’s so peaceful and pleasant.
Don’t worry, be happy.
