The Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) is pleased to announce the GREEN FAIR activities that will begin on April 17-20, 2018 in conjunction with the Earth Day Celebrations.

With this year’s theme; “End Plastic Pollution“, PVA is working closely with each state and other partner agencies to organize activities that will benefit the community, as well as provide solutions to lessen the use of plastic materials and the beginning of using local products.

Activities will include a weaving workshop conducted by two experts from Irimote Island, Japan; Ms. Harumi Tokuoko and Mr. Kimimochi Hosi.

The workshop will be held at the Ngardmau State Botanical Garden, where participants will have the opportunity to learn how to harvest and weave Itouch (local fern).

Each year, PVA hosts the annual Green Fair, and this year it will be held on April 20th at Ernguul Central Park from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Activities include display and sale of plants, as well as sales of gardening and farming tools with discounted prices by our local hardware stores. PVA will be featuring a Plant Contest for Medicinal and Ornamental categories, and this year it will be the butcherchar (medicinal) and ixoria (ornamental).

Judging will commence at 10 a.m. for the contest and the awards will be presented at the end of the day. There will be prizes for the top three winners for both categories as well as great prizes for raffle drawings throughout the day.

Registration deadline for the GREEN FAIR activities has been extended to Wednesday, April 18th at 4:00pm. For more information, please contact Kate or Api at the PVA office at 488-1930/2793. (PR)
