Congressman Michael F.Q. San Nicolas from Guam has taken to social media to express his gratitude to Palau for donating 1,086 COVID test kits.
In his Facebook post he said “Our future as island people is bound beyond just where we live. It is bound by the history we share and the reality that none of us will thrive if any of us fail.
San Nicolas went on to say that “this act today by our brothers and sisters to assist us in these COVID-19 times is an affirmation of that reality. Mesulang for what you have done, and what you continue to do.”
Following San Nicolas were other Chamorro’s who expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the gesture.
President Tommy Remengesau has expressed in previous press conferences that both Guam and Palau share a close relationship. He also mentioned Governor Lou Leon Guerrero as a friend to Palau as well.
According to an August 29th update, Guam has 1,347 positive cases and has a total of 10 deaths due to COVID-19. 849 are in active isolation while 488 have been released.
