Counsellor, Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium Manila, Mr Xavier Leblanc and his wife recently visited Cleared Ground Demining (CGD) operations in Peleliu State.

The Kingdom of Belgium is funding CGD as it conducts validation activities to ensure no AP landmines remain in Palau, ahead of Palau’s 10 year deadline under the Mine Ban Convention, which expires in May 2018.
The activities also include the removal of other ERW (Explosive Remnants of War), thus making the famous WWII battlefield in Peleliu safer for tourists, and also for the local communties on Peleliu who hunt in the Umurbrogol Mountains. [/restrict]
