Koror, Palau – February 29, 2024 – The House of Traditional Leaders of Koror, Palau, has taken a significant step to solidify the long-standing relationship with the Municipality of Rull, Yap State, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM).
A resolution passed by the house affirms the deep bond between the two communities, built on “common values of trust, cooperation, and friendship.” Recognizing the centuries-old ties, the resolution goes on to offer a submerged land in Koror State to the people of Rull.
The specific plot of land, located in Medalaii Hamlet and adjacent to the historical “Taoch er a Idedrach” landing area, encompasses 535 square meters. This gesture serves as a token of appreciation for the enduring friendship between the two regions.
The resolution emphasizes the intended purpose of the land grant, allowing the people of Rull to utilize and develop it for “social, cultural, or community purposes.” This offering reflects Koror’s commitment to fostering continued cultural exchange and collaboration with Rull.
The House of Traditional Leaders expressed their strong support for this initiative, aiming to further strengthen the bonds between the two communities. This act signifies the importance placed on maintaining and nurturing the special relationship between Rull and Koror.
