Minister of State Faustina K. Rehuher-Marugg, Minister of Cummunity and Cultural Affairs Baklai Temengil-Chilton along with KETC members presented sets of the translation of Kramer volumes to President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr., Senate President Hokkons Baules and Speaker of the House of Delegates Sabino Anasatacio during the January 08. Leadership Meeting at the Capitol Minister Rehuher Marugg gave a brief background of the KETC work and steps into translating, reviewing, and publishing the books.

As Chairwomen of the KETC she thanked the committee members Minister Baklai Temengil, Mrs. Mandy Etpison, Mrs. Constanze Dupont, Mrs. Meked Besebes and Mr. Thomas Schubert for their enthusiasm and dedicated hard work during this translation project. Minister Temengil concluded the short presentation by informing everyone that President Remengesau signed an Executive Order (407) to continue the work led by KETC. Minister Temengil highlighted that the next projects for KETC have already been identified; by translating the valuable ethnographic information contained in the German books of Stanislaus Kubary. Kraemer refers in all of his Palau Volumes constantly to Kubary’s observations and documentations of life in Palau, in the second half of the 1800’s. In addition the KETC will continue to work closely with the Hamburg Museum of Ethnography to unlock all the information of the thousands of artifacts and drawings collected during the Hamburg South Sea Expedition from 1909-10. President Tommy Remengesau Jr., Senate President Hokkons Baules and Speaker of the House Sabino Anasatcio expressed their appreciation for the dedicated work of the KETC.
Books are sold for $175.00 and DVD are sold for $12.50 at Etpison Museum and Belau National Museum Gift Shops. Proceeds from the sale of books and DVD’s will be used by the KETC for a reprint of all 7 Volumes when this 1st edition is sold out.
