Ministers and Ambassadors can only be reappointed after confirmation for each new Olbiil Era Kelulau (OEK).

The amendment was in the RPPL 11-29, recently signed into law by the President.

Positions that need confirmation anew for every new OEK are the Postmaster General, and UN Permanent representatives.

President Surangel Whipps, in his signing statement, addressed to OEK leaders that the reappointment process will allow for “more transparency and accountability.”

The new law also codifies the president’s duty to submit nominations for ministers to the Senate for consideration.

The supplemental budget became the rider of this bill which passed into law as RPPL11-29. House of Delegates discarded the supplemental budget bill passed by the Senate, picked what they wanted from that budget proposal, and inserted the appropriations as riders of the bill.
