KOROR, Palau (Feb. 12, 2026) — Ngchesar State officially inaugurated its 12th government Thursday, with newly elected leaders pledging to focus on infrastructure, housing, education and tourism development for the community.

Governor Jackson Doktok, Floor Leader Feliciano Watanabe and all newly elected members of the Ngchesar State Legislature took their oaths of office during a ceremony that highlighted the state’s commitment to balancing traditional leadership values with future development goals.
President Surangel S. Whipps Jr. attended the inauguration alongside Minister of Justice Jennifer Olegeriil and Minister of Human Resources, Culture and Tourism Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl.
“As Ngchesar moves forward with projects in roads, housing, schools and tourism, may your leaders continue to carry light for every family and future generation,” Whipps said.
The new administration is expected to prioritize improvements to road infrastructure, expansion of housing opportunities, support for school facilities and programs, and the development of tourism as a driver of local economic growth.
Community members attended the ceremony to welcome the new leadership and express support for efforts aimed at strengthening services and expanding opportunities while preserving Ngchesar’s cultural traditions.
The inauguration marks the start of a new term for the state government as leaders prepare to advance projects intended to improve quality of life and support long-term development for residents.
