KOROR, Palau – The Ngermid Youth Organization successfully hosted its first-ever Back-to-School Pack Distribution Event on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Riptide, drawing over 90 attendees, including more than 45 children from Ngermid and senior members of the community.

The event, led by the Ngermid Youth Organization, provided students with essential school supplies while also creating a space for families to gather, socialize, and strengthen community ties. Children enjoyed a fun day of swimming, volleyball matches, and Hanafuda games, followed by a shared meal of Spaghetti, cake and ice cream.

For many young participants, the event was a memorable experience. “It was really fun to be with my friends, and I’m grateful for the school supplies and being able to have lunch by the beach at Rip Tide,” said Yolanda Tiffany Pascual, a fifth grader at George B. Harris Elementary School who resides in Ngesaol, Ngermid.

Ngermid community leader Lator Tito expressed appreciation for everyone who made the event possible. “It was great to see the Youth of Ngermid come together, along with the Mechas of Ngermid, Oiengdang, and Ngarayolt. This was our first back-to-school event, and we’re already thinking of including more activities like it in the future because of the great turnout. Thank you to the parents, the youth of Ngermid, and the Mechas of Ngermid Oiengdang and Ngarayolt for showing support.”

For a first-time event, the turnout was impressive, reflecting strong community support and engagement. Organizers, including Ngermid Youth Organization, Ngarayolt, and Oiengdang, emphasized the importance of ensuring students feel prepared and supported as they start the school year.

With senior members of the community also in attendance, the event became more than just a school supply giveaway—it was a celebration of Ngermid’s unity and commitment to its youth. As the event wrapped up, organizers expressed hope that this would be the first of many gatherings to come, continuing to build a brighter future for Palau’s young generation.
