PPUC Organizing Committee Meets with PPA Executive Director

Koror, Palau—In August 2017, PPUC CEO Kione J. Isechal attended the 26th annual Pacific Power Association (PPA) Conference in Samoa where Palau won the bid to host the next Conference in the summer of 2018. Early planning initiatives have begun with PPUC creating an organizing committee with the main responsibility of making sure that all necessary preparations and planning are done in time for the Conference.

The committee is comprised of current PPUC employees that will be assigned to lead the following subcommittees: welcoming, food and beverage, transportation, finance/purchasing set up/decorations, public relations and fundraising, programs, technology/AV/facilities, and spouse and family programs.

On Thursday October 26, 2017, the PPUC Organizing Committee met with the PPA Executive Director, Mr. Andrew Daka, and the Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Gordon Chang. At the meeting Mr. Daka said, “This will be Palau’s third time hosting the PPA Conference. Last time was back in 2013 and we are happy to be coming back as Palau is an experienced host.” As time progresses, the PPUC Organizing Committee will be working closely with Mr. Daka and Mr. Chang to make sure that planning and preparations are going smoothly. The Conference is expected to be attended by more than 200 off-island guests including PPA members, allied members, and participating delegates from various electric utility companies and related businesses.
