Live performances, and Fine Dining, co-hosted by President Surangel Whipps Jr.
The Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) is fully prepared to begin the new year celebrating a major milestone: its 25th Anniversary Fundraising Gala Dinner, which will take place on January 15 at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center.
The evening will feature special live performances by Parker Yobei and Mariposa D. Ngiramengior, also known as Posa, two celebrated artists whose music reflects the richness of Pacific culture and contemporary expression.
Currently based in Saipan, Parker Yobei will travel to Palau to perform at this landmark event. Raised in Peleliu and nurtured by a lifelong passion for music, Parker has built a distinguished career spanning decades across the Pacific region and the continental United States. Known for his dynamic stage presence and versatility, his music honors Pacific traditions while embracing modern influences. PICRC is honored to welcome Parker for this special evening of celebration.
Joining him is Mariposa Ngiramengior, a renowned Palauan vocalist with over 20 years of experience, performing locally and internationally. Her music seamlessly blends traditional and modern sounds, contributing to cultural preservation while captivating audiences across Palau and beyond. In addition to her artistic contributions, Posa is widely recognized for her strong commitment to marine conservation, community development, and environmental education. PICRC is especially grateful to have her perform at this evening celebrating “25 Years of Ocean Stewardship: Rooted in Community, Grounded in Science, and Empowered by Commitment” (Luich ma Eim el Rrak er a Okerreuil a Debel Belau: Ultuil er a Rebeluu, Omesuub, ma Blak el Rreng).
PICRC has also partnered with the Palau Royal Resort (PRR) to curate a fine-dining menu worthy of the occasion, offering guests an elegant, thoughtfully plated culinary experience. Beverages for the evening will be provided by SHIMBROS Inc., a longtime and valued supporter of PICRC and its annual Gala Dinner, proudly serving Palau since the 1990s.
Demonstrating his continued support for the Center, President Surangel Whipps Jr. will co-host the event, underscoring a shared commitment to conservation and sustainable management of Palau’s marine resources. For 25 years, PICRC has worked at the forefront of marine research, conservation, and ocean stewardship, working alongside local and international partners to safeguard Palau’s reefs and marine resources for its people.
