Keefe Tmekei Techitong from the Republic of Palau, has been hired by Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) as the Accounting Officer. In this position, Mr. Techitong will be responsible for all accounting functions of the Center and will also be responsible for performing all financial tasks required by the Center. Additional aspects of Mr. Techitong’s position include; maintaining financial records, assisting in the development and enforcement of appropriate financial policies and procedures, conducting budget analyses and preparing and submitting accurate and complete financial reports.
In 2009, Mr. Techitong graduated from Palau High School. Later, in 2015, Mr. Techitong received a Bachelor degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Hawaii at Hilo, a college accredited for its outstanding College of Business and Economics. After graduating, Mr. Techitong worked for the Protected Areas Network Office (PANO) as a Finance Officer where he helped PAN States develop annual budgets to meet the needs of their PAN sites. Now, Mr. Techitong looks forward to strengthening his accounting skills while working at PICRC.
Mr. Techitong is the oldest son of Clar Techitong and Gail Rengiil. His father works for Palau National Aviation Administration (PNAA) and his mother works as the Director of Finance for Koror State Government. Mr. Techitong has two younger brothers, Ethan Obak Techitong who is currently a freshman at Scranton University in Pennsylvania and youngest brother, Trey Taktai Techitong, who is a junior at Xavier High School in Chuuk. Mr. Techitong plans to work for PICRC to grow his knowledge of accounting and eventually return to school so he can pursue a Masters degree in Business. [/restrict]
