Last year, during PICRC’s 16th Anniversary, the first and last “Visionary Award” was presented to President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. for exceptional visionary leadership in conservation in Palau and around the world. That night the “Visionary Award” was retired and in its place, the Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. Environmental Award was created.

This Thursday, the award will be presented to a special person who had demonstrated significant contribution to conservation, management and protection of Palau’s environment in the past few years, or over a lifetime.

The call for nominations for the “Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. Environmental Award” went out on September 21, 2017 and closed on November 10, 2017.  There were 13 nominees for this award.   Nominees were a diverse group of individuals, which included men and women from a variety of agencies and organizations.  Among the 13 nominated, one was selected by PICRC to be the winner of this award.

While tickets for this event have been sold out, the evening’s program will be broadcasted, live, by Palau Wave Radio.  PICRC encourages the public to tune-in and join their largest event of the year and celebrate the winner of PICRC’s first ever environmental award. [/restrict]
