Palau National Marine Sanctuary (PNMS) celebrates its 6th anniversary since it was first designated as a national sanctuary 6 years ago.
The celebration event featuring “Leadership Cook-off” and other interactive activities will take place this Thursday, October 28, 2021, in the evening at Kokusai, Ngatpang.
The cook-off will feature 16 teams from the 16 states with a delegate from the House of Delegates, a governor, and a speaker making up each state team. Only one of the members of each team can be replaced by a state employee. The teams will cook a variety of dishes using pelagic fish species as the main ingredient. The dishes will be judged by 5 senators and will have a variety of prizes including cash prizes and fishing trips among others.
The event is planned to be festive and educational, featuring the benefits of PNMS to Palau. Booths from partners and NGOs as well as vendors will be there. There will also be live band entertainment. The event is open to the general public and free bus transportation from Koror to Kokusai will be provided starting at 5 pm at school bus stops.
