Koror, Palau—On Wednesday November 08, 2017, the Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC) hosted four Palau High School (PHS) students in their one-day Job Shadow activity. The students are 10th graders at PHS and are required to complete the Job Shadow activity for their Career Development II (CDII) Class.

The students are Gobe Godwin, Reviel Lakobong, Leani Ngedebus Ridep, and Jerone Garcia. Based on their individual interests, each of them was assigned to the following PPUC Departments—Meter Reading, Power Distribution, Power Generation, and Water and Wastewater Operations (WWO). In a letter to PPUC CEO Kione J. Isechal, PHS Principal Smyth Rdang stated that the “Job Shadow is a one-day career exploration where a student observes a typical day of a career host…and are to observe, interview, and complete their Job Shadow Guidebook.”

PPUC extends its appreciation to Palau High School and the students who showed interest in job shadowing at PPUC. There are many technical jobs and careers at PPUC; therefore, the Human Resource Department continues to encourage high school students to pursue a postsecondary education in related technical fields such as mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering.
