On Friday November 15, 2024 two trainings were held simultaneously for our power and water operations staff, respectively. Our electrical power operations staff attended a full day training on Solar + Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) hosted by the Solar Pacific. The training is part of the project agreement to build capacity and knowledge on operation and maintenance of solar + BESS equipment. In

addition, this is to provide capacity building on switchgears and share knowledge on the grid integration requirements such as ramp rate requirements, spinning reserve, and forecasting.

PPUC’s Babeldaob water systems operators attended a training on water quality testing equipment. This is part of the US Department of Interior’s Maintenance Assistance Program (MAP) grant that was able to fund the procurement of 19 turbidity meters and colorimeters. After the training, the equipment will be handed over to the water operations and will enable the operators to measure and track the turbidity and residual chlorine of each of the water systems more accurately.
