The Palau Visitors Authority (PVA), in a meeting with President Tommy Remengesau, Jr. on June 5, had discussed about targeting freely independent travelers (FITs).
FITs are those type of travelers that shun escorted travel and has high preference on spontaneous exploration. According to asianclassictravels.com, FITs “spread their money around in a more efficient fashion, buying from multiple locations driven by their own particular itinerary and tastes and by the intention of enjoying the local way of life.”
In an interview with Press Secretary and PVA Board member Olkeriil Kazuo on Wednesday, he said that FITs are their preferred customers.
“This is the customer-based we want to target, if not entirely, then it should be the majority of the percentage no matter where they come from,” Kazuo said.
Kazuo also said that Palau has a lot of events coming up in 2019 and 2020, among these is the celebration of Palau’s Silver Anniversary of Independence in October 2019.
Kazuo added that PVA wants to take advantage of this event and promote them with Palau’s Ambassadors across the globe. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
