Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) representatives will travel with Palauan fishermen to Yokohama, Japan this week for the Japan Fishing Show.

Held at the Pacifico Yokohama, from January 19th – 21st, PVA will join over 200 exhibitors who will meet more than 50,000 visitors over the 3-day event. Local sports fishing tour operators and members of Real Fishermen, a sustainable fishing program from Ebiil Society, will join the PVA booth. In addition to meeting consumers, PVA is also arranging for meetings with popular fishing equipment brands, all for the purpose of promoting sports fishing in Palau.

Angling is big business in Japan and the fishing public is particularly well-served with some of the best gear manufacturers in the world. The expo will also feature an “Angler’s Idol” competition in which some young female anglers will demonstrate their talents on stage. The show is a collaboration of the Japan Fishing Tackle Manufactures Association, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Kanagawa prefectural Government, the City of Yokohama, the Japan Sport fishing Foundation, and the National Fishing Rod Fair Trade Conference.
