Counsel for 2017-2018, Ms. Cheryl L. Friedman. Cheryl, who is originally from Chicago, Illinois, graduated with High Honors and Distinction from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Arts in History and American Culture in May 2009. She received her Juris Doctor in May 2014 from Northwestern University School of Law (NU) in Chicago, Illinois. While at NU, Cheryl was Treasurer and Secretary of the NU Sports Law Society and the Publication and Technology editor for the Journal of Law and Social Policy.

Her work experiences include, starting in May to September 2012, she was a Research Assistant to Professor Stephen B. Presser at NU where she edited portions of Law and Jurisprudence in American History textbook and researched relevant state and federal case law for Piercing the Corporate Veil treatise. From September 2013 to May 2014 Cheryl was a Student Advocate with

the Environmental Advocacy Clinic at NU. Cheryl served as Legal Intern for the City of Chicago, Department of Buildings from May to December of 2013 and again from September to October of 2014. Most recently Cheryl was an Attorney for the City of Chicago, Department of Law.

Cheryl enjoys travelling and is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of the USA and Gold Award Recipient. She was able to combine those passions by working as a Summer Volunteer at  Our Chalet, a World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts World Center in Switzerland, in 2009. Cheryl also enjoys reading, University of Michigan athletics, and weightlifting.

Cheryl is excited to be in Palau for the upcoming year and look forward to taking advantage of all her new home has to offer. Cheryl will be joined in the next two months by two additional new Court Counsels. [/restrict]
