Police are still conducting a follow-up investigation regarding the drowning incident that happened in the vicinity of a hotel here on February 8 which took the life of a tourist.

In a phone interview yesterday, the Public Safety Acting Director said that the case is still being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

The victim who was identified as Yong Sook Cho, 69, a Korean National who was on a vacation with her family here in Palau drowned at the Palau Pacific Resort (PPR) beach where she was rescued by the hotel staff who then conducted a Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), according to the police blotter sent to the Island Times.

The victim was then rushed to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

When asked whether the corpse of the victim was still here in Palau, the Public Safety Acting Director said that they could not get a hold of the information and hence assumed that the body was already transported back to Korea since the victim’s family had already left the country.

Island Times phoned the PPR management yesterday to get their side of the story but was told by a staff that their authorized personnel was still out for an important business. Island Times is still awaiting response from the management as of press time. [/restrict]
