ANGUAR — Ucheldikes Natus Misech secured victory in the Anguar gubernatorial election, leading with 108 votes. Incumbent Steven R. Salii received 83 votes, while challenger Warren Fukuichi garnered 56 votes. According to the Palau Election Commission’s unofficial results for the Anguar State 22nd General Election on Nov. 5, 2024, there were 478 registered voters, with 257 total votes counted.

Misech has ambitious plans for his term, emphasizing constitutional reforms and budget restructuring to better serve the citizens of Anguar. He aims to engage the community in a review of the state constitution, identifying areas for necessary changes to ensure governance aligns with the island’s needs.

One of Misech’s top priorities is to establish a state treasury office led by a designated treasurer. This office would oversee Anguar’s financial assets and projects, ensuring accountability and transparency. He envisions a system where project details and financial records are easily accessible to the public, bolstering community trust and effective management of resources. He discussed these plans during a talk show on Aug. 2, 2024, on Palau Wave Productions.
