In her remarks, Ambassador Uludong stated “I have no illusions regarding the enormity of the task ahead. There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now. Palau has always seen partnership as an important path to prosperity, and the world seemed to agree. The United Nations delivered many important international agreements in just the past three years focusing on climate change, oceans, disaster risk reduction, and even the sustainable development of small island states! These diplomatic achievements create new opportunities for Palau to build a stronger future for our children.”
Furthermore she added, “we are seeing a rising wave of nationalism across the globe. Many powerful countries are starting to question internationalism itself. The new modes of cooperation we have built will be tested. As the new Permanent Representative, I am committed to advancing the interests of our country and protecting the partnerships that have been so important to us.”
Ambassador Ngedikes Olai Uludong is currently Palau’s Ambassador to the European Union, Climate Change, Permanent Representative to the United States Food and Agriculture Organization. She now adds Ambassador to the United Nations on her lists of notable accomplishments. [/restrict]
