An Air Asia flight chartered to pick up Filipinos and other foreign workers wishing to return to Philippines on August 2nd, 2020 have 146 Filipinos and 80 other nationalities signed up, according to information from to Ariel Dela Cruz President of The Filipino Community in Palau. The flight will arrive empty on the 2nd to pick up the passengers and return to Philippines.
Currently the cost of the one-way airfare is still somewhere between $700 to $900 and has not been confirmed. Interested passengers can still go to the Surangel’s Worldwide Travel Corporation Facebook Page to sign up for their spot. Deadline for the flight submission is today, July 24th at 4:30pm.
Upon arriving in the Philippines, all passengers will be taken to quarantine site and be tested. They may have to stay for up to 5 days at the site until test results are released. The testing and quarantine facility cost will be covered by PhilHealth/OWWA for OFWs with OWWA. For non-OFWs, they will bear the cost of testing and accommodations during the waiting period. Cost is $77 for testing and accommodations are said to range from $20 a day to $50 a day. Passengers on this flight are allowed to bring only one luggage (up to 23kgs) and one carryon bag..
Passengers who signed up will be contacted through call or email for the collection of payments. In the event the flight will be cancelled then the passengers who paid for their ticket will be refunded their money.
A 100 passengers are needed to ensure that the flight will come to Koror and it can accommodate at maximum a 180 passengers. So far, 146 Filipinos and 80 foreigners have signed up for the flight according to Ariel Dela Cruz President of The Filipino Community in Palau.
Dela Cruz added that he has talked to someone from China that is willing to help organize a charter flight to take some of the Chinese foreigners who signed up for the Philippines charter flight.
He went on to say that if the other foreigners can’t get into the plane due to the maximum capacity, to ask for assistance from The Filipino Community in Palau.
