(Koror, Palau) 23rd Mechesil Belau Conference was held this September 20th and 21st at the Ngaramayong Cultural Center. The annual event themed this year “Omengull, Omeruul llemalt ma Klemerang ra Delongeled a Rechad ra Belau” or “Respect, Justice and Honesty among Palauans”.

The event brought women of all ages from all over Palau to discuss issues of importance to them. Numerous invited guests and speakers from all sectors of the community such as politicians, health experts, educators, environmentalist, legal experts, business experts and other public service providers were brought in to present and answer questions of importance to the women.
Topics discussed ranged from health services and health care to 99 year lease, to law enforcement to cultural practices of “omesurch” and “use of Palauan money” and so many others.
Bilung Gloria Salii made the opening remarks and President Tommy Remengesau Jr. gave the keynote address. Other notable speakers include High Chief Reklai Raphael Ngirmang, High Chief Ibedul Yutaka Gibbons, Senator Sandra Pierantozzi representing the Senate President Camsek Chin and Speaker Sabino Anastacio.
The event successfully concluded on the 21st with dinner and dance performances. [/restrict]
