Palau yesterday started giving a second dose of coronavirus vaccine for the 5 to 11-year-old.

Last week, the Ministry of Health and Human Services ( MHHS) reminded parents to get their kids to the vaccination center for the second COVID shots for young children.

Younger kids only get a lower or 10-microgram dose, which is much lower than those given to 12 years old and up.

As of December 20, there are 620  5 to 11 years old vaccinated with the first dose.

Palau, with an estimated population of 18,000,  over 16,000 people have been fully vaccinated, according to the latest situation report from MHHS.

It is one of the few countries in the world that avoided community transmission, with only a handful of positive COVID cases detected at the border this year.  ( B. Carreon)
