Additional funding of $200,000 is requested from Olbiil Era Kelulau to hire more nurses.
President Surangel Whipps Jr., in his request, says the funding will pay the salaries of new nurses and doctors at the Belau National Hospital ( BNH).

In a letter last week to leaders of the Olbiil Era Kelulau (OEK) Whipps requested an amount of $ 200,000 to be appropriated to the Bureau of Hospital Services for the hiring of 13 nurses and two orthopedic doctors.
“As you know, we continue to experience a shortage in our healthcare providers and there is an urgent need to hire these persons, “the president stated.
He added that recent graduates from the Palau Community College Nursing program can be hired to fill in the shortage.
The president said the additional funding will help the government hire nurses expeditiously
He said that the needed personnel will allow for better quality service.
