The Governor of Airai State, Governor Tmewang Rengulbai is in an intensive care unit at the Belau National Hospital after sustaining injuries from a car accident on November 15th, 2020.
According to report from the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), Governor Tmewang was a single driver in the accident that occurred in the early morning hours in front of Palau High School last week.
MOJ did not release any other information as to the cause of the accident but said that the case was assigned to CID for further investigation.
Sources close to Governor Tmewang said he sustained serious injuries and is still under at the moment.
The last medical charter flight to Taiwan left Palau November 13 with no schedule set for the next flight.
Governor Tmewang, the longest-serving Governor of Airai State and one-term delegate, is a skilled public speaker, known well for his eloquence.
