Ambassador Jessica Lee of the Republic of China-Taiwan to the Republic of Palau issued a statement yesterday on behalf of her government calling for China to exercise self-restrain and not escalate conflict, to heed the call of international community to maintain peace and stability in the region. China in response to US Speaker Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan has been doing live military exercise around the Taiwan, including missiles to the north, east, west and south of Taiwan, one of which landed in Japan’s EEZ. International shipping and flights are being diverted as results of these aggressive acts.
