Koror, Palau – Candidates for Governor, Legislature, and Delegate of Angaur State gathered at the Palau Community College Assembly Hall last night to address their constituents.

Organized by Angaur’s chiefs, the event aimed to provide a platform for residents to hear the candidates’ plans for the state and ask questions about state government issues. This public forum, first held six years ago, has been conducted before every Angaur election since then.
Three candidates are running for the office of Angaur Governor. Natus Misech and Warren Fukuichi attended the forum, but the incumbent Governor Steven Salii did not. Two candidates are vying for the Delegate position; however, only Kennosuke Suzuky participated, while longtime incumbent Mario Gulibert was absent. Among the eight candidates for the Legislature, only Jay Henry and Arnold Asao were present.
The forum covered various state issues, including the quality of tap water and transportation costs to Angaur.
One attendee described the event as an important opportunity for voters to hear directly from the candidates, which helps them make informed decisions. He noted that in past elections, candidates who skipped the forum often struggled to win. (By: Eoghan Olkeriil Ngirudelsang)
