KOROR, Palau — “On behalf of the entire school community, we express our deepest appreciation to Governor Ucheldikes Natus Misech and the Legislators of the 22nd Olbiil Era Ngeaur for their steadfast support,” said Angaur Elementary School Principal Tiffany Rengulbai-Kasiano, after the state government donated $2,000 to support the school’s students and teachers.
The appropriation, directed to the Angaur Parents, Teachers, and Students Association (PTSA), has made it possible for the small island school to access training sessions and enrichment opportunities beyond those provided by the Ministry of Education.
Most recently, the funds enabled teachers and students to join the Youth-Led Safety Forum, “Youth for Youth: Digital Smart Squad Unite,” hosted at Ming’s Hall, Palasia Hotel by the United Nations Micronesia Office in Palau. The event brought youth together to discuss digital safety and responsible use of online spaces.
Rengulbai-Kasiano emphasized that without the financial backing of the Angaur State Government, the school’s ability to collaborate with schools in Koror and Babeldaob and participate in such programs would be “significantly constrained.”
Governor Misech said the government’s intent is to strengthen both the professional development of Angaur’s teachers and the educational opportunities available to children on the island. He praised the efforts of the principal and staff for “improving the quality of teaching and the school of Angaur.”
The state’s continued support, he added, reflects a broader commitment to prioritize education and health programs that benefit the island’s community. (By: L.N. Reklai)
