After a long search, the Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) has hired a new Director of Administration: Ms. Arnice Yechur Yuji. Ms. Yuji is a citizen of Airai state in Palau, and a graduate of Palau Mission Academy. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare Administration from the University of Hawaii at West Oahu. She also received her Master of Public Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Ms. Yuji worked previously as the Human Resources Administrator at the Ministry of Health (MOH), where she helped oversee recruitment, hiring, orientation, evaluations, retention, and all other human resources functions of the Ministry of Health. She was instrumental in developing an orientation process for all incoming employees to MOH that ensured their smooth transition.

PICRC anticipates the same excellent work from Ms. Yuji as she works to oversee the administration functions of the Center, coordinating the revenue generated activities of the Center and ensuring compliance with rules and regulations related to the Center’s activities. Personally, Ms. Yuji says, “I expect to learn a lot of things here both in administration and finance, as well as the environment, specifically the impact of human behavior, climate change, and other factors on our coral reefs and ecosystems.”

Ms. Yuji joins a staff of dedicated and talented young professionals at PICRC.  Her contribution will be critical to PICRC as it grows to meet its recently expanded mandate to include the whole ocean in Palau’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
