8 April 2025-  The Australian Embassy is pleased to welcome His Excellency Mr Toby Sharpe, Ambassador of Australia to the Republic of Palau. Ambassador Sharpe presented his credentials to His Excellency Surangel S. Whipps Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, the Honourable Raynold Oilouch, Vice-President, Paramount Chief Reklai, the Honourable Gibson Kanai, Speaker of the House of Delegates, and Representatives from the House of Delegates, the Honourable Senator Mason Whipps, the Honourable Oldiais Ngirakelau, Chief Justice, and Ministers, on Thursday at the National Capitol.

At the presentation, Ambassador Sharpe said, ‘It is an honour to represent my country as Australia’s second resident Ambassador to Palau. Our two countries and two peoples enjoy a close and friendly relationship. As members of the Pacific family, we share common values, a common ocean and a common vision of a peaceful, stable, prosperous, and unified Pacific. I look forward to working with the Government of the Republic of Palau to strengthen our bilateral partnership, building on the efforts of outgoing Ambassador Richelle Turner.’

Ambassador Sharpe is a career officer with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, having previously served overseas with the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands, Honiara and, most recently, in Beijing. He is joined in Palau by his spouse, Ms Austvina Phan.
