Parents and their babies, together with librarians, during the launching of the Baby and Toddler Reading Club at the Palau Public Library on July 17.

Koror, Palau – Cooing babies, enthusiastic toddlers, and their parents filled the kids’ section of the Palau Public Library on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 where the inaugural Baby and Toddler Reading Club was held.

The early literacy program targets zero to three year olds and aims to provide an interactive and fun environment where kids and their parents can engage in activities that support reading skills.

Studies show that reading to babies and toddlers promotes brain development and helps for school preparation.

With 26 people who participated in the event, organizers were pleased with the attendance and hope that even more will attend next month on August 21, 2019 at 9 am.

Baby & Toddler Reading Club is a partnership with the Palau Public Library of the Ministry of Education and local parents. For more information, contact the Palau Public Library at 488-2973. (PR)
