PORT MORESBY, 28 MARCH 2108 (PNG GOVT) — The National Executive Council has recently appointed Barbara Age as Papua New Guinea  secretary of the Department of foreign affairs  and trade.

This was announced by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, saying Cabinet has recognised the wealth of experience, commitment and merit of Age, both within the Department and in other regional agencies.

“The decision to appoint Age as the DFAT Secretary was recently decided by the Ministerial Executive Appointments Committee and approved by Cabinet, given her occupying the position as the Acting Secretary since January,” PM O’Neill said.

He said on behalf of the Government, I congratulate Age on her appointment to the well-deserved position of Secretary and assure her the government’s support in the course of her tenure.

“Our government aims to promote gender equality in the public service and this is yet another instance of our objective,” PM O’Neill said.
