KOROR, Palau — The 2025–2026 BIIAA high school basketball season continues to build momentum as student-athletes across the country approach one of its most anticipated moments—championship games in the boys 3×3 and girls 5×5 divisions.
Organized under the Palau Basketball Federation, this year’s season has brought together teams from Mindszenty High School, Palau Mission Academy, Palau High School, Emmaus-Bethania High School, and Belau Modekngei School, all competing in both traditional 5×5 and the increasingly popular 3×3 format.
Updates shared through the federation’s Facebook platform highlight how 3×3 basketball has become a key feature of the season. The fast-paced, half-court style of play has challenged athletes to rely on quick decision-making, conditioning, and individual skill, resulting in tightly contested games and heightened excitement among spectators.
In the boys 3×3 division, top teams have advanced through competitive matchups, demonstrating strong chemistry and consistency. The format’s shorter game time and rapid scoring have made every possession critical, often leading to dramatic finishes that keep fans engaged throughout.
On the girls side, the 5×5 championship reflects the continued growth and development of girls basketball in Palau. Teams have shown notable improvement in coordination, teamwork, and overall competitiveness. The increased visibility of the girls division signals ongoing efforts to strengthen and support women’s participation in sports at the high school level.
Coaches across all programs have emphasized that the season is about more than wins and losses. Student-athletes are expected to maintain academic eligibility while representing their schools, reinforcing the importance of discipline and responsibility both on and off the court. Leadership, teamwork, and respect remain central values promoted throughout the league.
Community support has also played a significant role. Families, students, and basketball fans have consistently turned out to support their respective schools, creating an energetic and encouraging environment that adds to the overall experience of the competition.
As the season progresses toward its final stages, the championship games in both divisions stand as a major milestone. While teams compete for titles, the broader impact of the BIIAA league continues to be seen in the growth of young athletes and the strengthening of school and community pride.
The ongoing season serves as a reminder of the important role sports play in youth development in Palau—providing opportunities for students to challenge themselves, build character, and represent their schools with pride.
