A fire destroyed a dilapidated building on the way to M-Dock near the Courthouse on late Saturday afternoon.

The building, once owned by the late Fukiwara Sora Taima, was vacant and was leased out by the children of late Taima.

The fire started in the afternoon and was not extinguished until nearly 11pm. Despite the efforts of the BPS firefighters, the building was completely destroyed.

The building structure, according to the Chief of Fire Jeff Eriich, was quite dangerous, maze-like with materials constantly falling, creating hazards for firefighters.

There were no injuries or reports of theft.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
