On Tuesday, October 29, Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) welcomed Taiwan’s Ocean Affairs Council Chief Secretary, Tien-Shang Lin, and his delegation from Taiwan, to its facilities.
Inaugurated on April 28, 2018, the Ocean Affairs Council is administered by the government of Taiwan (ROC). Its main goal is to plan, coordinate and implement policies dealing with marine-related matters.
The main purpose of Chief Secretary Lin’s visit was to learn more about PICRC’s research work in hopes of establishing a partnership with the Center. After meeting with PICRC CEO, Dr. Yimnang Golbuu, the delegation received a tour led by Aquarium Director, Ms. Ilebrang Olkeriil. The delegation had a particular interest in learning more about the Palau National Marine Sanctuary, as well as the research being done at the center.
PICRC was honored to host Chief Secretary Lin, and his delegation from Taiwan, and hopes this is the beginning of a long-lasting collaboration between Taiwan and Palau with marine conservation at the core. (PR)
