The other day I opened my journal from several years ago and was pleasantly surprised. I thank my Teacher, Counselor, Friend, and LORD, my God. The Third Member of the Holy Trinity aka Holy Spirit. Anyways She’s been walking these halls of my soul healing, repairing and restoring the damaged and broken parts of my soul. She nurtures my soul.
I found an old journal entry and thought, “Wow, I’ve come a long way!” I don’t do that anymore and I don’t feel guilty.
It was one of those moments recently. I found a scribble from years ago when I was constantly stressing about making everyone else happy and completely ignoring my own needs. And because we believed as a Christian to do… The new Commandment is to love others as yourself. I have not loved myself as I have loved others. Always giving to others but putting my own needs to the back burner — simmering until it’s had enough. Boom! Big explosion. Not good.
It got me thinking—how many of us are still carrying patterns from our past? Habits like always putting others first at our own expense, tiptoeing around to avoid upsetting anyone, or struggling to set boundaries.
Sometimes it feels like you’re losing yourself, doesn’t it?
Its time to break.that cycle, say NO and take care of your own needs. Break the cycle of codependence also known as
the dance of a wounded soul.
Reconnect with your younger self—the one who might’ve felt unheard or overlooked. The unloved inner child needs you to love her. It’s a powerful way to start healing old wounds.
