On July 27, 2023, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) destroyer SHIRANUI conducted a communication and information exchange exercise with Division of Maritime Security and Fish and Wildlife Protection patrol vessel KEDAM provided by the Nippon Foundation in the waters surrounding Palau as the fourth Palau-Japan goodwill exercise in history.
Through these exercises, JMSDF further deepened cooperative relations with Palau toward the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” while achieving greater mutual understanding between the two countries.
