The Division of Labor, Bureau of Immigration and Labor, held an employers’ workshop with over 60 participants at the Palau High School Multipurpose Center on July 30, 2019.
The workshop allowed for dialogue with employers of nonresident workers, exchange of information, and briefing on the new forms and changes that will take effect on August 5, 2019 following the recent revisions to the Division of Labor Rules and Regulations.
The Division is committed to ensure that the public is aware of the requirements to employ a nonresident worker and to help make clear the obligations of employers and employees. Our Labor office believes that successful implementation of the new rules and regulations can only be achieved with the public’s awareness and good communications with the business community. “The business community plays a role in determining the need for foreign laborers in Palau. We are committed to the employment of qualified citizens, better screening of workers, and having a sustainable labor force to support our economy”, said Acting Director Silverius Tellei.
The use of new employment applications will commence on August 5, 2019 and can be accessed at the Office of Division of Labor either in paper or electronic form. Electronic forms can also be obtained by emailing labor@palaunet.com. Upon submission of completed application, Labor will issue an invoice to pay the $25 Application fee at the Ministry of Finance. The old nonresident employment applications already purchased will be accepted only for a limited time.
