During these uncertain times, several companies continue to donate to the Palau International Coral Reef Center’s (PICRC) Arts and Tides Calendar; a community-based program that was launched 19 years ago with the purpose of raising environmental awareness through student artwork. PICRC truly appreciates, and encourages, the contribution of all sponsors of the Calendar, especially those able to contribute at this time.                                                                                                                                                                      On May 19, 2020, Mr. Russ Masayos donated $1,500 on behalf of Western Caroline Trading Company (WCTC), one of the largest donors of the Arts & Tides Calendar since 2001. On the same date, the Center received a donation of $750 from Mrs. Sandra S. Pierantozzi, owner of Sun’s Flower Shop, who has been a continuous supporter since 2010. Likewise, PICRC’s sister Aquarium, Toba Aquarium, offered a donation of $1000 to sponsor the 2021 Arts & Tides Calendar.

Despite the challenges, PICRC decided to continue with the planning and printing of the 2021 “Saving Our Oceans from Plastic Pollution” Arts & Tides Calendar.  “We truly believe that this community-based program is something that benefits students, community, and overall marine ecosystems.  We also believe that it was good for students to have some regularity amid the closure of schools and cancellation of most of their regular activities,” expressed Dr. Yimnang Golbuu, PICRC Chief Executive Officer. “We thank all present, past, and future sponsors for sharing our vision; without their support, the making of the Arts and Tides Calendar would not be possible,” he added.
