The year 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Palau as well as the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Palau.
In effort to celebrate these occasions, the Embassy of Japan in Palau is pleased to announce that Japan Foundation have decided to donate educational materials to schools that conduct Japanese language learning programs. The donation aims to support students’ learning and deepen their understanding of Japan. While Palau has a unique history with many fluent Japanese speakers, the number of such speakers has declined over the years. In light of this, Japan Foundation is providing educational materials to give an opportunity for young people who are interested in Japanese language and culture to pursue their interests in more depth.
The materials will be distributed to Palau High School and Mindszenty High School with a presentation ceremony scheduled to take place soon.
