The biggest event to celebrate the Japanese culture in Palau, the Japan Fair is back “in person” for the first time since 2021. The 13th Annual Japan Fair will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center from 1:00-4:00pm (Doors open at 12:30pm).
The event will be packed with a number of fun performances by ikebana (flower arrangement) teacher, Ms. Koen Yokoi, Japanese Language School of Palau, JICA, Palau Judo Federation, Japan and Palau Youth Sailing Club/ Palau Sailing Association, and the Palau High School Theater & Arts Club.
Free and open to the public, the Japan Fair will also offer opportunities to experience Japanese culture such as the ikebana workshop, yukata (summer kimono) try-on, origami (art of folding paper) workshop, oshiruko demonstration, shodo (Japanese calligraphy), and writing names in Japanese.
The event will also feature a special exhibition on the art of Hijikata Hisakatsu, who introduced itabori (storyboards) to Palau.
The Embassy of Japan welcomes everyone to come and enjoy this exciting event to discover the traditional and modern art of Japan.
